   9 class="right"]] My family is the greatest source of joy in my
  10 life. Stacy and I have been married since December 30, 1995 and are
  11 having many wonderful adventures raising our four sons, Cameron,
  12 Hyrum, Andrew, and Scott. One defining aspect of our family life is
  13 our membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  14 ([lds.org](http://lds.org)). Another essential aspect of our family
  15 life is play. The [[LEGO]] system is a favorite toy of all the boys in
  16 the family, and we're starting to put together a decent collection of
  17 favorite [[games]]. We also love wrestling together and doing pretty
  18 much anything to make each other laugh.

  22 Since about the age of 10, (think BASIC on an Apple ][e), I've found
  23 myself wanting to program computers more often than time generally
  24 allows. I feel very fortunate that so much [Free
  25 Software](http://www.fsf.org/licensing/essays/free-sw.html) exists
  26 that I can very often find that someone else has already written the
  27 programs that I would like to write if I had the time, (and I'm given
  28 the freedom to adapt the software to my exact desires). I'm also very
  29 fortunate to work for [Intel](http://www.intel.com), (and previously,
  30 [Red Hat](http://www.redhat.com)), which gives me the opportunity to
  31 write Free Software as a full-time job.

  34 software project that I've spent the most time on is the [cairo
  35 graphics library](http://cairographics.org) which has been a
  36 tremendous amount of fun, but it's really only interesting for other
  37 programmers. Non-programmers might be interested in some of the other
  38 games and toys that I've written. I share all my programs as Free
  39 Software and I'll put more information about obtaining those programs
  40 here soon, (please pester me if you're interested in something I've
  41 written and cannot find it).

  43 I've presented [[talks]] about several of my software projects which
  44 might be interesting to read about. I've always posted the slides I've
  45 presented, and I've recently started doing much better writeups so
  46 people that didn't hear me speak alongside the slides can still
  47 understand them.

  51 When I'm not at home, I'm likely [rock climbing](rock_climbing), or
  52 maybe hiking in the Columbia gorge with my family. When I'm home, I'm
  53 often trying to learn to play the piano, (I love the work of Chopin,
  54 but can't play much of anything yet), doing origami, or playing
  55 [[games]] with my family. I'm toying with the idea of implementing
  56 several networked games over at
  57 [friendlygames.org](http://friendlygames.org).
